When we think of winter in Italy, the image that comes to mind is that of cold days, perhaps with a hot chocolate in our hands. Certainly not that of a dip in the sea. But for surfers it's a whole different story. Whenever the weather conditions bring perfect waves, it's time to grab your board and ride them, regardless of the season.
However, the sea does not always cooperate. And this is where the Waiting Period comes into play, a period of waiting in which one prepares for the call: the signal that warns the community that the long-awaited waves have finally arrived.

What is the Waiting Period?
The Waiting Period is usually associated with major international surfing contests. It works like this: organizers set a time frame of several months and set precise parameters for ideal conditions. When the waves reach the requirements – such as height, duration and intensity – the " CALL " is made, with a 72-48 hour notice, thanks to constant monitoring by experts.
An all-Italian example? The famous Wave Hunters PRO contest in Levanto, dedicated to Big Waves. Here the Waiting Period lasts three months, and to activate the call, waves of at least 3 meters for six consecutive hours are needed.
The Waiting Period of WIJI DAYS
For us at WIJI , the Waiting Period is a special moment, but we don't live it with the spirit of competition. Our goal is different: we want to transform the call into a unique opportunity to bring our community together and celebrate the magic of surfing together.
That's why we're happy to announce the return of WIJI DAYS with a Waiting Period from May 2025. During these three months, our experts will constantly monitor the weather conditions, ready to start the CALL as soon as waves between 0.5 and 1.5 meters appear for at least six consecutive hours.

THE CALL: A day of surfing and connections at WIJI DAYS
The location chosen for this new WIJI DAYS event could only be Levanto, one of the pearls of Italian surfing. Here, our Waiting Day will be much more than a simple trip to the sea: it will be a day dedicated to fun, sharing and the spirit of surfing.
Thanks to our partners, we are organizing a program full of activities that will make this experience unforgettable for everyone. There will be no winners or losers, because the real protagonist will be the bond that unites us as a community.
Be prepared to keep an eye on the weather and our communications: the CALL could come when you least expect it. It's time to live surfing with the right spirit, because, as we always say, "Surf is an Attitude" .

The WIJI DAYS in LEVANTO will take place on a weekend in May, just 48/72 hours after the CALL .

Program of the day "WIJI in Levanto"
Morning
Here, participants will have the opportunity to rent the necessary equipment, including wetsuits and surfboards, before starting the day. Once ready, a warm-up session will take place on the beach, led by the surfers.it association, to prepare the body and mind for the waves. Immediately after, a free session in the water with the surf coaches.
The experience is recommended for those who have already practiced surfing and know the basics 🤙🏽
Otherwise, it will be possible to book a Beginner Surf Lesson with Dario or Gabo, which will take place during the day.
Afternoon
The afternoon will be full of creative and technical activities. At the surf school, you can take part in an original workshop to build a surfboard with Lego bricks , inspired by the Olympics. For those who want to improve their skills in the water, a personalized video analysis will be available: during the morning session, participants will be filmed and then analyze the videos together with an expert from surfers.it , who will offer targeted suggestions to improve technique and style. 
Evening
The day will end in style with a convivial dinner and an exclusive party . The evening will be accompanied by live music by Albe , a singer and passionate surfer, famous for his participation in Amici 21. His energy will accompany us until late at night, celebrating surfing and our community.
