EARTH DAY BY THE WAY

EARTH DAY BY THE WAY

On April 22, one month and two days after the spring equinox, we celebrate World Earth Day , known throughout the world as " EARTH DAY ", created in 1970 by the United Nations to remind us of the urgency of protecting the natural resources of our planet. It is an important opportunity to critically reflect on our actions and to renew our commitment to a sustainable future.

At WIJI we firmly believe in the power of innovations and initiatives that combine passion, creativity and environmental responsibility and today we want to share with you some of the most interesting events and initiatives in Italy dedicated to this awareness day, capable of transforming ecological awareness into concrete actions and giving voice to a necessary change.

Worldrise – Marine Reforestation
The Worldrise project aims to restore Posidonia oceanica meadows, marine ecosystems essential for biodiversity and the fight against the climate crisis. Between 2022 and 2023, 500 square meters of meadows were requalified between Golfo Aranci, Palmaria Island and Elba Island. This initiative actively involves schools and local communities, promoting education and environmental awareness as fundamental tools for lasting change. • Mangrove Kit: For each tree planted, €5 is donated to Plastic Free for the recovery of sea turtles at the Calimera Recovery Center, Lecce.

  • Coconut Tree Kit: Similarly, for each tree planted, €5 goes to the collection of plastic in at-risk areas, again in collaboration with Plastic Free.
